Endoscope-assisted Microsurgical Retrosigmoid Approach for Resection of a Pre-pontine Mass
摘要
The video will expose the clinical details of the pediatric case affected by posterior fossa neurenteric cyst, an extremely rare pathology. Great attention will be given to pre-operative MRI and CT scan images and description. Surgical planning will be discussed, exposing advantages and disadvantages of the approach and discussing possible alternatives. The surgical dissection with the help of the endoscope is described, highlighting the effectiveness of the endoscope in controlling areas otherwise not visible under microscopic control. Dissection of the cyst wall from the distorted brainstem is an absolute pearl of an exceedingly rare condition offering very special anatomical views.
