Evaluation of sleep-wake disorders with the Kiddie Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia for Children and Adolescents: Present and Lifetime version 5.1
摘要
Sleep–wake disorders (SWD) include dyssomnias and parasomnias, which negatively affect cognitive, emotional, and physical functioning, contributing to significant disability. The aims of this study were to develop and evaluate the convergent validity (CV), divergent validity (DV), and interrater reliability of the Kiddie Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia Present and Lifetime version 5.1 (K-SADS-PL-5.1), which includes SWD.
Methods:We calculated categorical, subdimensional, and dimensional SWD. We evaluated 103 children and adolescents, n = 43 females (41.75%), with a mean age of 13.35 (standard deviation = 2.97) years.
Results:For categorical SWD, the highest prevalence was observed for insomnia disorder (n = 64, 62.1%), and the lowest was for non-rapid eye movement sleep arousal disorders (n = 15, 14.6%). For categorical diagnoses, CV showed correlations from r = .27–.58 and for DV from r = −.00 to r = −.14. For the subdimension of dyssomnias, the CV reported was r = .38 with the Sleep Disorder Rating Scale, and the DV value for the Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire was r = −.08 and for the MOJAVE scale was r = .00. For the subdimension of parasomnias, the CV value with the Sleep Disorder Rating Scale was r = .36, and the DV value with the Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire was r = .11 and with the MOJAVE was r = .007. For the dimension of SWD, the CV value with the Sleep Disorder Rating Scale was r = .41, and the DV value was r = .02 for the Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire and r = .01 for the MOJAVE.
Conclusions:The correlation values indicated by the CV measures varied from low to medium, whereas the DV values showed nonsignificant associations. Interrter reliability demonstrated excellent correltion beetween evaluators (k = .85–.90).
