Abstract <p>This study explores the potential for improving the engine efficiency and reducing fuel consumption through the use of counterflow recuperators of different masses in engines with output power of 3 and 11 kW. Numerical modeling results are used to minimize fuel consumption and engine weight with a recuperator by intelligently reducing the heat recovery rate.</p>
