The Effect of Cooling on Turbine Operation

Abstract
The results of turbine stage calculations showed that the turbine efficiency decreases when cooling air is released behind the throat of vane rows and increases as the air temperature grows. It is shown that the turbine capacity increases as the gas temperature decreases, the axial force on the rotor changes when changing a cooling mode, and there is a superposition of the effects of various coolant releases on losses in vane rows. We formulate some recommendations on the rational air blowing off near the trailing edges of the blades, on the choice of the incidence angle in the designed blade and on taking into account differences in turbine parameters during its model and natural tests.
