Mechanical Model of a Space Elevator. Oscillations

Abstract
The paper considers a variant of equal-strength cable and derives a set of dimensionless similarity criteria that connects the elastic, strength, and inertial characteristics of the cable material, the mass of the elevator technological platform and its orbit. In this paper, the model is extended to study wave processes and oscillations. Partial longitudinal and transverse waves and the corresponding dispersion relations are considered. Coupled longitudinal and transverse stationary oscillations are analyzed based on the complete equations.
