On One Tip Vortex Core Circulation Distribution Model in the Near-Field Region of a Wing

Abstract
The circulation distribution of the wing-tip vortex core is analyzed in the near-field region of a rectangular wing at the downstream distance of several wing chord lengths. Experimental results, obtained earlier using particle image velocimetry, are compared to the analytical Burnham–Hallock vortex model. A modification of Burnham–Hallock model is proposed, that allows obtaining the circulation distribution in the wing-tip vortex core region based on the flowfield conditions and the downstream distance of the wing.
