Abstract <p>Deformation is investigated on the basis of an equation in which the stresses and strains are related through elasticity parameters. Deformation in nanostructures (nanotubes) in the presence of heat is considered. In the simulation, cases with a single nanotube and two closely spaced nanotubes are examined. Analysis of the results shows that the maximum residual strain decreases with increase in radius to a certain value and then sharply increases.</p>
