Abstract <p>The study discusses determination of the magnitude and description of the topography of demagnetizing fields for permanent magnets made of rare-earth chemical elements. To describe the magnetic field strength of a magnet, the fields of a permanent magnet are calculated using the equivalent solenoid method. Dimensionless criteria of optimal sizes for magnets of different shapes, such that ensure a given bearing capacity or rigidity of bearings with minimal costs of the magnetically hard material, are determined.</p>
