Abstract

Tests of Al–Si–Al2O3 aluminum matrix alloys show that a material with different wear characteristics and frictional coefficient may be obtained by slight changes in alloy hardness and strength. The frictional coefficient is determined by abrading the sample against a counterbody in rotation.
