Parameter Selection for Optimal Deployment Control of an Aerodynamic Tether System in the Atmosphere

Abstract
The deployment of a tether system in the atmosphere with account for aerodynamic forces is considered. Methods of deploying of a space tether system are determined. The influence of tether system parameters on its deployment in the atmosphere and that of aerodynamic forces on deployment control are investigated. The main parameters influencing the movement of the tether system and the law of tether deployment are determined. It is established that the optimal movement and deployment of the tether system occur at small angles of deviation of the system from the local vertical.
