Excavator Control: Analysis of Experimental Data

Abstract
Operator control of the Hitachi Zaxis 180LCN excavator using joysticks is studied experimentally. The reverse engineering problem is solved. A model of the equipment is developed and its parameters are determined. The rotation of the excavator’s platform, boom, and bucket is studied as a function of the joystick inclination. The volume of soil removed in each excavation cycle is determined.
