Abstract <p>The basic trends in the transformation of the education system are analyzed. Topics include the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) and adaptive technology for personalized study, the increasing popularity of hybrid formats, and the importance of developing students’ soft (social and emotional) skills. Competence-based education and lifelong learning are highlighted as responses to a rapidly changing world. The education of competitive and adaptative specialists calls for a combination of technological innovations and humanization of the learning environment.</p>
