Abstract <p>Experience gained in developing reinforced aluminum matrix alloys and putting them into production is considered. In comparison with unreinforced aluminum alloys, such alloys are harder, more corrosion-resistant, and more wear-resistant. Properties of reinforced aluminum matrix alloys such as high specific strength and elastic modulus may be attributed to the presence of reinforcing particles or fibrous and thread-like elements.</p>
