Abstract <p>The requirements on a portable (compact) pulsed seismic source of nonexplosive type are outlined. Electromechanical drives used in such sources are compared. Analysis of their characteristics indicates that the dynamic induction motor may expediently be used as a pulsed power unit for seismic sources.</p>
