Abstract <p>A two-layer ZrSi<sub>2</sub>–MoSi<sub>2</sub>–ZrB<sub>2</sub>–ZrC/SiC coating is applied by reactive synthesis in situ to a carbon–carbon (C/C) composite from a mixture of ZrSi<sub>2</sub>, MoSi<sub>2</sub>, and B<sub>4</sub>C powder. The heat resistant of the coating on heating in air to 2100°С is investigated. The mechanisms of formation and evolution of an oxide film preventing oxidation of the C/C composite is studied.</p>
