Heat-Resistant ZrSi2–MoSi2–ZrB2–ZrC/SiC Coating for Carbon–Carbon Composites

Abstract
A two-layer ZrSi2–MoSi2–ZrB2–ZrC/SiC coating is applied by reactive synthesis in situ to a carbon–carbon (C/C) composite from a mixture of ZrSi2, MoSi2, and B4C powder. The heat resistant of the coating on heating in air to 2100°С is investigated. The mechanisms of formation and evolution of an oxide film preventing oxidation of the C/C composite is studied.
