Relieving of Thread Milling Cutter Teeth Using a Grinding Wheel with a General Position Axis

Abstract
The article proposes a mathematical description of the method of radial relieving of thread milling cutter teeth with a grinding wheel rotated to two positioning angles relative to the axes of the workpiece reference frame. This approach simplifies the manufacture of thread milling cutters, since by configuring combinations of positioning angles, a single standard wheel can be used to profile thread milling cutters of several different sizes. The developed mathematical dependencies are confirmed by experimental studies, the results of which can be used in the design of multiple thread milling cutters for the manufacture of metric thread.
