Assessing the 3D Parameter Sdr of a Digital Surface Model after Surface Plastic Deformation

Abstract
An algorithm is developed for assessing the developed interfacial area ratio Sdr for a scale-limited microrelief surface after smoothing and 3D modeling. The results of numerical modeling are compared with experimental data. A correlation is found between the results given by the algorithm and the experimental changes in the surface. On that basis, the quality of the machined surfaces may be predicted, and the smoothing process may be optimized at the design stage.
