Side Frame Strength of a Railroad Truck under a Load

Abstract
Attention focuses on calculation of the strength of the side frame of a railroad truck in accordance with the GosNIIV–VNIIZhT requirements (the Russian Ministry of Railways’ standards for calculating and designing nonmotorized freight cars used on 1520 mm gauge railroads). The calculations are outlined, and the stress–strain state of the railroad truck’s side frame under a vertical load is described. Conclusions are drawn on the basis of the calculation results.
