Diagnostic System for Cracks in Gas Turbine Blades: Influence of the Gas Flow Velocity on the Signal

Abstract
A diagnostic system has been developed for damage in the blades of a gas turbine engine, using a capsule with ionizing material. The influence of the flow rate on the signal when the ionizing material enters the recording system is determined. Using a Pitot tube, it is found that the signal increases with increase in the gas flow velocity.
