Contact Deformation of Gear Teeth

Abstract
Elastic contact deformation of gear teeth is investigated. A formula is derived for the elastic tooth deformation in the contact zone. This deformation does not depend on the radius of curvature of the teeth in the contact zone; it is about 42% of the total contact deformation. Analysis of the results indicates that they are in good agreement with literature data.
