Hydraulic Drag of a Layer of Crushed Plant Waste in Screw Transportation during Activated Carbon Production

Abstract
The power required for an inclined screw conveyer with specified productivity is calculated, taking account of the hydraulic drag in the transportation of dry crushed material. The hydraulic drag of the crushed material is found to depend considerably on the conveyer’s inclination. With increase in screw diameter, the hydraulic drag decreases. Therefore, the diameter must be increased when the packing density of the crushed material is high.
