Noncontact Seals for an Oil Pump

Abstract
Noncontact seals of a positive displacement pump are considered. Experiments confirm that noncontact seals of stepped ridge type may be employed. Empirical formulas are proposed for the change in liquid flow rate in forward and reverse piston motion.
