Influence of Metal Flow in the Isothermal Stamping of Ribbed Aircraft Panels and Shells

Abstract
Metal flow in the formation of ribbed aircraft panels and shells is considered. When workpieces of minimum thickness are used in order to reduce the consumption of expensive materials, shape defects are observed. The best methods of producing panels and shells from high-strength aluminum alloys are isothermal stamping and the stamping of superplastic materials. The optimal strain rate and temperature for those processes are determined.
