Replacing Forged 12X18H10T Steel Billet with Castings Obtained from Thin-Walled Metal-Shell Molds with Forced Cooling
摘要
Abstract
Research shows the possibility of replacing forged 12X18H10T steel billet with castings obtained in thin-walled metal-shell molds with forced cooling. In tests, the strength, plasticity, and impact strength of the forged and cast components are compared. The macrostructure of the steel samples is studied, as well as their sulfur impressions and the distribution of nonmetallic inclusions. The mechanical properties of the castings match those of the forged billet. The castings are characterized by somewhat lower strength but greater plasticity and impact strength.
