Estimation of Spring Methane Emission from the Mozhaysk Reservoir
摘要
Abstract
The article presents the results of the spring methane burst estimation from the Mozhaysk Reservoir in the Moscow oblast. The initial data were obtained from the field measurements carried out in the reservoir before and after ice melt in 2018 and 2019. The spring burst was calculated as the difference in methane storage before and after ice melting, considering the inflow and outflow of the Moskva River. The maximum spring burst was estimated at 118 t CH4 in 2018 and 13 t CH4 in 2019. These values correspond to 33% (2018) and 2.5% (2019) of the annual methane emission estimates obtained without accounting for the spring burst. The article also discusses the peculiarities and limitations of the methodology used.
