Comparative Analysis of Heavy Metal Concentrations on the Pamir Firn Plateau and in the Central Caucasus Glaciers
摘要
Abstract
The paper presents the results of studying the contamination of glaciers in different physical and geographical regions: the Central Caucasus (Adyrsu, Garabashi, Ullukol) and the Central Pamir (Pamir firn plateau) located at different altitudes (for a period from 1970 to 1982). It also gives a comparative analysis of the heavy metal concentrations in the Ullukol glacier and the reference Garabashi glacier (the southern slope of Mount Elbrus) from the early 1980s to the present. The climatic, orographic, and lithological conditions for the formation and accumulation of pollutants in the glaciers are different, which affects the concentration of trace elements in glacial strata.
