Connection between the Variability of Atmospheric Circulation Characteristics in the Azov-Black Sea Region and the Indices of the Main Modes of Large-scale Atmospheric Circulation in the Atlantic-Eurasian Sector

The results of studying the variability of the NAO, EA, POL, EA/WR, and SCA indices characterizing the large-scale atmospheric circulation in the Atlantic-Eurasian sector and regional atmospheric circulation indicators (surface air pressure field expansion factors in the Azov-Black Sea region) over the period 1960–2021 are presented. A comparative analysis of the variability during 1960–1989 and 1990–2021 has been performed. It has been found that the large-scale and regional indices are statistically significantly connected in terms of seasonal, interannual, and long-term variability. Periods of the resonant and compensating influence of large-scale processes on the atmospheric circulation over the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov have been revealed. The intraannual variations in NAO, POL, and SCA in 1990–2021 were almost opposite to those in 1960–1989. The differences were particularly great in December–June. The seasonal trends in the regional indices were preserved, but there were changes in the values, which are especially significant in December–April.
