Abstract

A computer model of a 90-kVA generator with high-temperature superconductor (HTS) windings is presented for integration into complex power supply and electric propulsion systems. The model is based on a classic synchronous machine circuit, supplemented by blocks that take into account the temperature and field dependences of the critical current in the HTS winding tapes, as well as the ac hysteresis losses in these tapes. Calculations are performed using the finite-element method, and dynamic modes are analyzed in the Simulink environment. It is shown that the model allows estimating the generator’s serviceability limits and its thermal load, as well as implementing protection functions by comparing the current and critical currents.
