Characteristics of an Electrical Machine with a Complex-Shaped Magnetic Core Made of a Soft Magnetic Composite Material

Abstract
The possibility of using soft magnetic composite materials for three-dimensional magnetic cores of electric machines is considered. Using the example of an external rotor, permanent-magnet-excited motor with a magnetic core made of laminated electrical steel, a design with a three-dimensional magnetic core made of Somaloy 700 HR 5P was developed, which provides comparable power. The level of magnetic-circuit saturation, machine losses, and the weight-and-size parameters of the proposed design were evaluated.
