Methods and Algorithms for Interval Regulation of High-Speed Train Traffic

The linear distance between high-speed trains at a speed of 360 km/h reaches 60 km with a 10-min travel interval. At such a linear distance, the braking distance of the train is an order of magnitude less than the linear distance, which simplifies the interval control system. In this case, it is proposed to use the principle of semi-automatic interlocking. When the travel interval between trains is reduced to 2–3 min, the braking distance of the train becomes commensurate with the linear distance. As the simulation showed, the organization of traffic with a regulator onboard the locomotive, using the law of acceleration control, makes it possible to ensure the safety of train movement in emergency situations in which the train in front stops almost instantly (the speed is zero, imitation of a train derailment). The considered control law also makes it possible to ensure the stability of the movement of several trains moving at a minimum interval; in particular, the movement of five trains was simulated. The train management system should provide for the possibility of emergency stops of trains and provide reconfiguration for a longer interval to ensure the safety of train traffic.
