Circuitry, Converter Designs, and Control Algorithms for Traction Electric Drives

The article covers in detail the requirements for specific characteristics and efficiency of converters for electromechanical transmissions of various vehicles with a capacity of over 100 kW, the implementation of which will allow them to be successfully used in vehicles instead of mechanical and hydromechanical transmissions. Three types of frequency converters are shown in the form of compact designs in sealed housings with liquid cooling and IP67 protection that have been developed by OOO Ruselprom and successfully implemented in traction electrical-equipment kits of a number of vehicles. Optimal control algorithms in frequency converters for traction electric drives with preliminary determination of electric motor parameters are described, ensuring high efficiency, dynamics, and stable operation in a wide range of powers and rotation speeds.
