Abstract <p>The main focus areas aimed at improving the electrical insulation characteristics of polymers used as insulation for high-voltage equipment are considered. An analytical review of technical and technological solutions for optimizing these materials is presented, such as the use of new epoxy resins, changing the size and structure of filler particles. A comparison of the electrical insulation properties of traditional polymers and nanofilled polymers is made. It is noted that the characteristics of polymers with nanofillers may be more preferable for use in high-voltage technology. The main areas of improving polymers to increase electrical and mechanical strength, heat resistance, and thermal conductivity are highlighted.</p>
