Simulation and Analysis of Geometric Parameters of a Linear Generator with Permanent Magnets for Wave Energy Conversion

Abstract
This article focuses on the simulation of a cylindrical linear generator with permanent magnets as part of a wave energy converter. The model was developed in the COMSOL Multiphysics environment as a 2D axisymmetric model using the finite element method. A numerical simulation was conducted to investigate the influence of the generator’s geometric dimensions on the maximum value of the electromotive force (EMF). Based on the conducted research, the optimal parameters of the generator were determined: the width of the magnet, the width of the nonmagnetic insert, the width and height of the slot, and the width of the stator tooth.
