A Two-Unit Variable-Speed Diesel Generator Power Plant

Abstract
The concept of implementing a two-unit power plant based on diesel engines with adjustable rotation speed and power semiconductor converter devices is considered. The energy feasibility of operating power plants of this type is substantiated. A power plant’s transformer-free (transformerless) circuit topology is proposed. Based on a comparative analysis with alternative types of power plants, the power plant’s high energy (fuel) characteristics are confirmed, including in the zone of average statistical loads. The power circuit structure and the automatic control system of power plant are synthesized. Based on simulation modeling, the quality indicators of regulation in the parallel operation mode of generator units are confirmed.
