Optimal Parameters of Onboard Energy-Storage Devices for Subway Electric Rolling Stock

Abstract

A method for estimating the parameters of the autonomous running of electric rolling stock is proposed, which incorporates analysis of the weight of a railway train, speed modes, and voltage of onboard energy-storage devices. The technique allows us to determine the optimal characteristics of storage devices to provide backup power supply in case of an accident and for shunting, taking into account the parameters of the traction power-supply system and the specifics of the subway operation. The scenario of an emergency power outage is considered, in which the storage device provides autonomous movement of the train to the nearest station for safe evacuation of passengers. Experimental data confirming the efficiency of using the storage device to improve the reliability and safety of subway operation are presented. It is shown that the use of a storage device onboard the train not only contributes to the efficient reuse of energy, but also increases the safety of passengers in emergency situations. The proposed method for estimating the parameters of the storage device takes into account the real parameters of the traction power-supply system, which ensures high accuracy and reliability of calculations.
