Distribution of the Magnetic Field Generated by a 20-kV Power Conductor with Solid Polymer Insulation

Abstract

The results of the study on the distribution of an industrial-frequency magnetic field (IFMF) in the polymer insulation of a 20-kV power conductor based on numerical simulation are presented. The main calculation stages were preliminarily established, and the most complex areas of the conductor design for calculations were identified. A mathematical model was developed, and a simplified calculation of the distribution of IFMF intensity inside the polymer insulation was carried out. The nature of the change in IFMF intensity in the insulation layer of the power conductor was determined, and its maximum values were obtained. Conclusions were made regarding the compliance of the power-conductor construction with the requirements of electromagnetic compatibility and electromagnetic safety during its operation in power facilities.
