Abstract <p>The operational and energy characteristics of composite fuel pellets based on pine sawdust, rice husks, and liquid fuel (rapeseed oil and waste motor oil) are experimentally studied. Adding rice husks (30 wt %) reduces the hardness of the pellets by 19% and their calorific value by 8% and increases the ignition delay by up to 63%. Adding liquid components (5–10 wt %) decreases the density by 9–13% and the hardness of the pellets by 33–57%, but increases their calorific value by 1–10% and decreases the hygroscopic index by 6–19% and the ignition delay by 13–33%. These results confirm that combustible liquid components may expediently be used to improve the energy properties of composite fuel pellets with optimal proportions of the components.</p>
