Identification of Coal’s Mineral Mass by Scanning

Abstract
It is established that, if a set of coal samples with a broad range of mineral content is scanned and the scans are converted to a histogram in shades of gray, the maximum may be used to characterize the mineral content in the coal. The results of scanning are compared with the ash content of the samples.
