Numerical Analysis of Normal Zone Propagation Processes in Cables for Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage Systems

Abstract
The paper presents the results of a numerical analysis of energy loss and of the normal zone propagation processes in multilayer HTSC cables for various geometric configurations, including CORC cables, Roebel cables, and a twisted stack of HTSC tapes. The energy loss dependence on the frequency of AC transport current and the dependence of the normal zone propagation velocity on the amplitude of the constant current load are found.
