The Effect of Pinning Center Configuration on Transient Processes at Microsecond Current Pulses

Abstract
The form of the response of a vortex system in a high-temperature superconductor to a current pulse of microsecond duration has been calculated numerically. A voltage peak is shown to be present on the superconductor at the start of the pulse in a sample with strong pinning. The peak amplitude is several tens of times higher than the steady-state voltage value. The severity of the peak declines as the effectiveness of defects is reduced. If the current pulse is supplied to a sample initially loaded with subcritical current, the peak amplitude decreases. The calculations were performed for different values of the pulse current amplitude and temperature.
