Abstract

By using the concept of a multifactorial experiment, the effect of factors determining the formation of coatings by means of microarc oxidation (MAO) exerted on their corrosion resistance. The considered factors include the anode current density, the concentration of nanotube suspension in the base electrolyte solution, as well as the substrate material. The corrosion resistance has been studied for the case of a 3.5% NaCl solution using a three-electrode cell with a silver chloride reference electrode. Correlation and regression analysis with a subsequent verification of the adequacy of the model according to Fisher criterion has made it possible to obtain a reasonable combination of factors that provide a fivefold increase in the corrosion resistance of the coating formed on the surface of V95 grade aluminum as to compare to the coating formed in the base electrolyte without nanotubes.
