Abstract

The ductility of a domestically produced Superduplex steel blank (PREN > 40) designed for hot pressing was studied. Compression, tension, and torsion experiments were conducted on specimens produced using a Gleeble 3800 multifunctional thermomechanical modeling system in the temperature range of 1050–1250°C. It was found that maximum ductility of the steel is achieved at 1200–1250°C. Important aspects of heating the steel before deformation to ensure maximum ductility were noted. Ductility diagrams were constructed taking into account the effects of temperature and stress, which contributes to achieving the required quality parameters of tubular products. The obtained data were used in developing a technology for the first trial of hot-pressed pipes made from this steel grade in the Russian Federation.
