Abstract

Paints, varnishes, and metal coatings are used to protect against atmospheric corrosion, and various simulation testing methods are used to evaluate their effectiveness. This paper presents practical experience with in-kind coatings conducted on an atmospheric testing facility. Carbon steel corrosion rates are determined under various seasonal environmental conditions. A comparative analysis of the protective properties of paints and varnishes of different chemical compositions after a year of exposure to atmospheric conditions in the Moscow region is carried out. Salt fog tests were conducted to assess the aluminum coating durability. The impregnating layer influence on the preservation of protective properties of metal coating is assessed.
