Abstract <p>During the rolling process of pipes on a floating mandrel, the surface contact area between a metal and the mandrel increases at the rear end of the rolling. This can lead to problems with mandrel removal. To develop effective measures to reduce the contact surface area, it is necessary to study the mechanism behind this phenomenon.</p>
