Abstract <p>Analytical materials are presented on repair and recovery vehicles of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, as well as of NATO member countries. The possibility of developing and deploying a mobile plasma unit to improve the quality of restoration of worn parts of machines and assemblies is examined. Results are given from studies of plasma coatings produced by applying exhaust gases from an internal combustion engine as a source of hot hydrocarbons. Conclusions are drawn regarding the relevance of using the proposed unit and of implementing plasma coating technologies for the restoration of worn component surfaces.</p>
