Abstract <p>The article describes rail sections rolled on rail and beam mills. One of the main parameters determining the quality of a rail is its geometry obtained during the rolling process. A methodology for planning a multifactorial experiment as applied to rolling in four-roll calibers is presented. The general technology for producing rail sections at metallurgical plants in the process chain from steelmaking to thermal strengthening of rails is rail production technology. Plans for the expansion and construction of railways in Russia, and also outlines promising areas for energy and resource saving in rolling technology are described.</p>
