Abstract <p>The object of the study is the furnace rollers of recrystallization annealing units (RAU), which are prone to the formation of buildups. Based on laboratory tests using an original methodology and structural-phase investigations, it has been shown that plasma coatings of the NiCrAlY + Y<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> type provide a multiple increase in the rollers’ resistance to buildup formation on the surface under RAU operating conditions compared to the base material without coating. At the same time, the content of Y<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> affects the change in resistance.</p>
