Rationalization of the Pneumatic System of the Electrode Clamping Mechanism in Electric Furnaces

The design of the equipment for clamping the electrode of electric arc steelmaking furnace (ESF) and facility for electroslag remelting (ESR) is considered. The equipment functions in the system including the electrode and the mechanisms of clamping and lifting the electrodes of ESF and ESR. The design of the equipment for clamping the electrode using a pneumatic drive is developed; it provides efficient clamping, holding, and releasing in the course of operation. The rational scheme of the pneumatic system for the equipment for clamping the electrode of electric arc steelmaking furnace and facility of electroslag remelting is developed to provide efficient operation of machines and aggregates of electric steelmaking. The pneumatic scheme of the clamping mechanism for the electrode based on a flexible pneumatic element and using an original design of cooling element with additional pneumatic actuators without moving seals is presented, which allows ensuring rational motion of melt due to effective operation of the electrode clamping mechanism.
