Corrosion Inhibitor for the Protection of Oilfield Equipment Operated in Various Aggressive Environments

Abstract

Prevention of complications in wells and in the system of intra-field pipelines that arise under various aggressive and variable conditions (liquid flow rate, pressure, temperature, presence of mechanical impurities) is a pressing issue. Based on this, a new combined corrosion inhibitor with surfactant properties was developed using technical phosphatide (an emulsion obtained by hydrating vegetable oils), as well as sulphanole, urea, and polyethylene polyamine. The developed multifunctional inhibitor provides protection for equipment against corrosion in various aggressive environments at an optimum dosage of 250 mg/L. Field tests of the corrosion inhibitor showed that the implementation of the inhibitor reduced the number of repairs by four times, while the mean time between repairs increased by 2.5 times.
