Increasing the Quality of Manufacturing Sand Cores at the Casting and Mechanical Plant

The need to reengineer the process for manufacturing sand cores in the conditions of the subsidiary enterprise “Casting and Mechanical Plant” (Tashkent) is due to the fact that the existing process at the Casting and Mechanical Plant (CMP) has disadvantages that affect the quality and efficiency of product output. For the sand core, which is used in the production of railway wheels, the number and diameters of ventilation holes for air exchange and injection holes for introducing the core mixture are determined. The design of a core box for the production of sand cores using cold-box technology has been developed, the use of which at CMP made it possible to increase productivity by 20%, reduce losses from defects in the manufacture and assembly of cores from 8 to 2%, and reduce the cost of disposal of waste cores by 80–90%.
